General Characterstics Of Insects

Zeeshan Ali Solangi

Insects are placed in phylum arthropoda, the largest animal phylum who's members body is segmented. But insect poses some unique features which eventually lead them in there own class, the Insecta.

All of Insects have three major body divisions and which is there important character too as other arthropods like spiders (Archnida) have only two body regions.

Fist division of Insects is head. Head bears mouth parts, eyes, and pair of antennae.

Second body division is a thorax which further divided into three regions; the prothorax, mesothorax and metathorax. Thorax has three pairs of legs means they are hexapoda animals. In adult insects, thorax also poses one or two pairs of wings too.

The last division of Insects is abdomen which is highly segmented part of insect body. It contains excretory, digestive and reproductive organs.
